1st Open Gujarat Legal Chess Championship 2026

As per the instructions of the All India Bar Council, the Gujarat State Chess Championship organized by The Surat District Bar Association was scheduled to be held on 25 July 2026.

However, due to continuous heavy rainfall across Gujarat, flood-like conditions, road closures, and travel difficulties for participants, officials, and guests, it has been decided to postpone the tournament.

The tournament scheduled for 25/07/2026 is postponed. The new date will be announced shortly.

We request everyone's cooperation.

Tournament Format

The championship will be conducted professionally under recognized chess regulations.

Tournament Rules

  • Swiss System Pairings.
  • Fair Play Rules Applicable.
  • Number of rounds will be decided based on total entries received.
  • Time Control: 10 Minutes + 5 Seconds Increment.
  • The tournament shall be conducted in accordance with the FIDE Laws of Chess.
  • Decision of the Chief Arbiter shall be final.
  • Protest against Chief Arbiter decision shall be made in writing with a protest fee of ₹1,000 within 10 minutes of occurrence of the incident. Protest fee will be refunded if the protest is upheld.

  • Reporting Time: 08:00 AM.
  • 1st Round at 09:00 AM.
  • Walkover Time: 10 Minutes.
